Amaryllis began in 2003.
I had a vision of an amazing, unique company; one that serviced corporate clients with interior plant services and flowers and a large retail store to sell the plants, flowers, and Christmas decorations. I knew that if we provided innovative designs, impeccable service, implemented high quality standards, and a personal touch we would have the winning combination.
Seven years later, I sometimes have to stop to remember how far we have come. I love this store and I love interacting with all our customers. Even with the volume of business we do, our high quality standards are still in place.
I still manage to make it down to Boston to buy our flowers usually twice a week, picking out everything by hand, so I can judge the quality and freshness myself. The designs are unique and our own--we are fiercely independent and do not belong to any wire services like FTD or Teleflora. Our floral arrangements are chic and contemporary without being over the top. Our plants come by truck from nurseries in Florida right to our back door, and a lot of our Christmas décor is hand made here at the store--beautiful wreaths, mantelpieces, and quality ornaments.
Our original business of Interior Plant Service continues to this day; most of our clients have been with us for all this time. I still know all of them on a first name basis, as I do most of our regular customers who come in the store or call us on the phone. Many are shocked and I cannot blame them in this era of boring, impersonal chain stores. I truly think people are just starving for that personal touch again--to be known, and to know that their business matters.
